Where the Quake?

I found this image from United Nations UNOSAT reliefweb, show the epicentre of the quake. It was actually nearer to Bukittinggi than Padang. Click on the image for better resolution.

I wonder what has happen to our contacts in Bukitinggi?. My sms to them left unanswered. What is the fate of those in Batang Pelupoh? Sri Rafflesia, are you okay?

Kami alhamdullillah baik-baik aja. Di Unand aman pak. kemaren memang sempat panik sebentar, karena bagi yang kuliah di Lantai III itu terasa sekali goncangannya. Beberapa perlengkapan di laboratorium LT III ada beberapa yang berjatuhan. Kemaren sore kuliah ditiadakan, tapi hari ini udah normal. Daerah yang parah itu ada di Solok, padang panjang, bukittinggi dan batusangkar sebagian.

Alhamdulillah, kami di Padang sehat wal'afiat saja.
Namun memang masih ada gempa susulan sehingga kami
haru s dalam keadaan waspada terus.

Memang ada beberapa daerah khususnya di seputaran Gn
Marapi yang terkena bencana yang cukup parah. Beberapa
teman-teman di KCA-LH Rafflesia saat ini sudah ada
yang menuju ke sana untuk membantu proses evakuasi dan
beberapa teman-teman yang lainnya ada yang berusaha
mencari sumbangan untuk bantuan korban bencana.

Earthquake in Padang

I was caught in total surprise about the magnitude of the earthquake when I watch tv3 news last night and to see rescue operation around Universitas Andalas (UNAND). I was there once, and familiar with the place. Places around UNAND are famous for Rafflesia gadutensis, an endemics of the area. My actice contacts in the area is KCALH, headed by Qting, above.

I immediately sent out sms messages to him and just before midnight I received his reply saying that he is okay. I hope the entire people of UNAND are okay.
