Congratulations Dr Agus Susatya

Pak Agus "Gustio" Susatya, who was with us for the past 5 years, went to defend his PhD thesis "Biology and Ecology of Rafflesia arnoldii" last week. He came out milling and now we can call him Dr Agus Susatya !. In the thesis, Pak Agus described the biology, ecology and taxonomy of the Rafflesias in the place where Raffles first discovered the flower wit Dr Joseph Arnold in May 1818.

Pak Agus, a staff of Universitas Bengkulu, and my labmate in Michigan State, joined us as a PhD student in 1999. Together, Pak Agus and Jamie Lim and Pakdin went on Sumatera Rafflesia hunt in 2000 and. This is Pak Agus then..

Returning to UKM after fieldwork in Sumatera, PakAgus was active in our excursions. These were some photos of him in the field, in Malaysia

Dr Agus will be going back to Bengkulu soon, but with him in Indonesia, you will bet we will be there more often. Pak Agus also plan to write a book on Indonesian Rafflesia. Bye bye Pak Agus and congratulations on work well done. We will see you in Bengkulu !
